Des Petits Hauts, a line of poetic simplicity
Founded in 1998, Des Petits Hauts saw two sisters join forces around a single project: creating, from quality fabrics, a collection of uncomplicated clothing embellished with whimsical detailing. Initially specialising in tops, today the label proposes a comprehensive range of ready-to-wear and fashion accessories.
An optimistically authentic brand.
Des Petits Hauts came into being when Katia Sanchez, with the support of her sister Vanessa, resigned from her job with a major textiles group to launch her own line of clothing. Together, the two women decided to focus entirely on creating "little tops" that they considered as being key pieces. From her experience in ready-to-wear sales, Vanessa brought with her the essentials: if a garment is well-cut, perfectly-finished and made from beautiful fabrics, it will find favour. From the beginnings of the brand, the emphasis was on quality and attention to detail - a guiding principle that still applies to the company today. It was in Greece that the Sanchez sisters set up their first workshop to manufacture their clothes, charmed by the know-how of the seamstresses and the luxury fabrics they used. They also gave an ambition to their creations which, they said, had to bring into vision the "brighter side of life".
Today, there is a complete range of Des Petits Hauts leather goods, made up of leather clutches and handbags. The collection is still dominated by the textile range, which includes a fabric tote bag and a crocheted basket, which reflects the company's love of pretty cottons.
Branching out without sacrificing quality.
Initially located in Greece, manufacturing was subsequently moved to Portugal and Peru, destinations with a reputation for the quality of their cotton. Recently, some of the tops started being manufactured in France by an artisan proposing unique know-how: seamless T-shirts. Over the years and thanks to different encounters, the Des Petits Haut brand has also introduced an element of whim into its collections, that are enhanced with original detailing such as star-shaped elbow pads and embroidered Swarovski crystals. The designers haven't also invited their favourite illustrators to create designs for their T-shirts, the resulting motifs being one-offs. Recognisable by its small golden star, the Des Petits Hauts brand is fond of detailing and materials that break the mould slightly, like broaches, lapel pins, lace from Japan and of course its iconic sequinned buttons.
Des Petits Hauts jackets, blousons, dresses and accessories now sit side-by-side with the brand's tops and mohair sweaters. Each piece added to the ready-to-wear collection embodies the company's bohemian chic spirit, all in pastel tones and delicate fabrics. Amongst the label's leading models, we remember:
