Meet Sophie Hersan, Vestiaire Collective Fashion Director and co-founder. It all started with a simple question: Why do so many fashion pieces go unused in our wardrobes, and is there a way to extend their lifespan? Circularity is the common denominator throughout her life, from the vintage YSL tux she got from her mother, to how she designed her apartment or the new Vestiaire Collective’s Paris HQ, where all the furniture is secondhand, following strict environmental and social criteria. Learn more about her casual, effortless, and Parisian style, as well as her passion for timeless pieces she’s scored on the platform thus far.
I like minimalist pieces I can wear everyday; the perfect pair of straight denim, a casual crew neck cashmere sweater and my favorite leather jacket. Over the years I’ve found a lot of suits and tuxedos on Vestiaire which I mix into my everyday look or wear as an ensemble for an event or a night out. Favorite brands: Old Céline, Saint Laurent, Loewe or Prada.
80% of my jewelry is vintage and mostly YSL. Many of my bags are vintage too. Since I founded Vestiaire, I have also developed a true passion for vintage watches, like the Cartier Tank or Baignoire. I really like classic men's watches like Rolex Oyster Perpetual, Submariner, Milgauss to complete my androgeneous style.
On my wishlist is an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watch, but I am still saving up!
Leather jackets and coats are essential parts of my timeless wardrobe. I bought my beloved vintage Perfecto leather jacket when we did a Schott capsule edit on Vestiaire Collective, sourced by fashion expert Gauthier Borsarello. My favorite coat has to be my navy Celine wool trench from the Phoebe Philo era - it’s a true classic.
A classic bag. Before going wild, I would recommend starting with a black bag. It goes with everything and works for all occasions. Four years ago, I found this Fendi baguette on Vestiaire Collective, before the style really made a comeback.I love anticipating second-hand trends before the resale market hypes them up, and finding them for a fraction of the price.
