We’re Looking for Local Designs
It’s a mantra for sustainability, but the phrase “think global, act local” has never been more relevant. Here we shine the spotlight on labels like Alighieri, MaisonCléo and Totême, who have chosen to keep their production network as local as they can, in many cases sourcing all of their manufacturing from the same region as their headquarters.
Alighieri
Based in London’s Hatton Garden - for centuries the city’s centre for gold and silversmiths - Alighieri’s jewellery is designed by Rosh Mahtani, with every piece being inspired by Dante’s ‘Divine Comedy.’
MaisonCléo
A mother-daughter project based in Lille, MaisonCléo’s handmade pieces champion the handicraft techniques and beautiful materials of France, as well as telling a story of cross-generational collaboration.
Totême
Designed in the team’s Stockholm studio, presented at the city’s fashion week, and made in Sweden, Totême is a thoroughly Scandinavian affair, helmed by blogger and style superstar Elin Kling.
