    Meet Venetia, Fashion Activist

Slow fashion campaigner Venetia is part of a new generation of activists who are pushing us all to change the way we think about our clothes. She believes that the dignity and joy of garment workers should be at the centre of the fair fashion revolution. All of this means she’s a natural fit for our new film. Find out more below and on her Vestiaire Collective profile: @venetialamanna

Hi Venetia, so how did you first get involved with sustainable fashion?

I was called out for being vegan whilst supporting fast fashion at the same time on my YouTube channel. I watched the True Cost documentary and read the work of Naomi Klein and never looked back!

How do you carry sustainability through into your everyday life?

I try to rally for system change wherever possible, calling out large corporations for their unethical and environmentally polluting practices in order to hold them accountable and raise awareness. I speak to garment workers and their unions as much as I can in order to amplify their needs and demands. And I encourage celebrating the clothes we already own via the #OOOTD (Old Outfit Of The Day) movement.

What does being a fashion activist mean to you?

Doing my best, but accepting and allowing space for the fact that so often, action means resting to be able to take action. It’s also learning, unlearning, reading, listening and platforming. It’s collective power and action from us all.
