“I have a younger brother with schizophrenia who I’ve been advocating on behalf of for the last 30 years. Navigating the broken mental health system in this country led me to TAC and the necessary work they do for people with SMI (severe mental illness) and their families.
You only need to walk down the street in any major city or talk to a warden in the country to know one of our most vulnerable populations is not getting the help they need. The lack of support and services puts a tremendous strain on families, plus the potential of harm for the person suffering or those around them increases exponentially without treatment.
I commend what this organization has done, led by its founder Dr. Fuller Torrey, to promote awareness and push through legislation like Kendra’s Law.”
“I’ve collected vintage and designer clothes for many years. But I have a son, so there’s no daughter to give these pieces to. They deserve a good home and someone else to bring life to them.
Moreover, sustainability is important to me. I’ve started buying mostly preloved from Vestiaire Collective and other sources. To me, getting an amazing Lanvin silk dress for $250 that will last or be resold makes more sense than something $200 and fast fashion.”
“My most important piece is the Ossie Clark full-length Python coat. This piece is 1 of 4 made in the late 1960s. Purportedly, Celia Birtwell, Marianne Faithful, and Sharon Tate were the original owners. Sharon Tate wore this coat to the film premiere of ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ with Roman Polanski in 1969. I found this piece in a Portobello Road vintage store in 1994. I was obsessed with Ossie Clark’s pieces at the time and knew I had to have the coat.
There are also several Marc Jacobs pieces I wore to sit in his front row. And the Gucci Bodycon glitter dress I was gifted to wear for a big Gucci party that Tom Ford threw in Los Angeles.”
