Our mission is to transform the fashion industry for a more sustainable future. As the world's first B Corp fashion resale platform, we champion the circular fashion movement as an alternative to overproduction, overconsumption and the wasteful practices of the fashion industry.
Our philosophy is simple: Long Live Fashion.
We're proud that, as we grow, we're still reducing our emissions and our net positive impact on the environment is widening, year after year. In fact, we prevent 3 times more emissions than we generate, without offsetting. Plus, we've reduced our carbon intensity through cutting air transport and increasing local shipping, as well as optimizing our packaging to reduce waste.
But we don't just want to report on what we're doing. We want to understand what's changing in the world where our Collective lives, breathes, and shops.
So for our 2024 Circularity Report, we conducted a first-of-its-kind consumer survey which revealed that we cannot afford fast fashion. The survey showed that fast fashion items are worn less, kept for shorter periods, and have a lower resale value than high quality, pre-loved pieces.
We want to be the leading voice for circularity in fashion. As the first fashion resale platform to ban ultra fast fashion, we're determined to push for tighter regulations for clothing producers and brands. But we can’t change the fashion industry on our own. That’s why we create long-term partnerships with like-minded brands to help offer Resale as a Service – so their clients can enjoy a circular shopping experience.
We share inspirational educational content to help our community to buy less and buy better by investing in longer-lasting, better-quality items.
Sustainable choices should be celebrated and rewarded, and they are – with our Fashion Activist badge. It's awarded to the members of our community who both buy and sell with us.
The more diverse we are, the stronger we are. 67 nationalities are represented at Vestiaire Collective, and 80% of our employees feel empowered to authentically express themselves at work.
We are committed to closing the gap. We know representation of women in tech is an industry wide problem. We’re dedicated to not only hiring women but ensuring they are represented at the highest levels of leadership. Our internal target is to reach 50% female representation in the leadership team by 2026.
We empower our team to take action. Each of our 5 employee resource groups, Women’s Empowerment, Ethnic Diversity, Accessibility and mental health,Parents and LGBTQIA+ are run by volunteers.
This year we are publishing our first DNFP. This details our policies, initiatives, results and performance indicators regarding our environmental and social risks and opportunities.
