Top Tips for Sellers
Our golden rules will help you sell your pre-loved pieces, increase your Seller Status and earn the trust and confidence of the Vestiaire Collective community!
1. Tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth
Honesty really is the best policy, and that starts with the listings you create. Take plenty of original, well-lit photos, write a clear description with as much detail as possible, and be open and accurate about any flaws.
Remember, buyers can report any issues with their item once they receive it, so it’s always better to be completely honest about your item, including its origins, condition, quality, colour, size, and flaws.
2. Only sell what you can ship!
It’s easy to forget that an item you’ve already sold elsewhere (or decided to keep!) is still listed on Vestiaire. Unfortunately, this means that a hopeful buyer could snap it up and end up disappointed. Did you know that cancelled sales negatively impact your seller status? Save someone a little heartbreak and protect your great reputation by removing items that are no longer available - it only takes a click!
3. Taking a break? We’ve got you covered.
Whether you’re away for the weekend or heading off for two weeks of sun, activating Holiday Mode just takes one click. Once Holiday Mode is activated, your items will remain visible. Buyers can still ❤️ them - they just won’t be able to place an order until you’re back. It couldn’t be simpler to avoid selling items you’re not available to ship.
4. Sold it? Ship it!
Most items sold on Vestiaire Collective need to be shipped within 7 days, or the sale will be automatically cancelled - so it pays to be a speedy shipper. We reward sellers that ship quickly by boosting their Seller Status, which means you could earn a Seller Badge and gain more visibility for your items. Remember, if you’ve made a sale via Direct Shipping, you’ll be sending the item directly to your buyer. Take care over the packaging, and don’t hesitate to send a friendly note in the parcel to make someone’s day!
5. Stay chatty
Buyer Seller Chat makes it quick and easy for a potential buyer to request more info about an item that has caught their eye. Speedy responses can mean speedy sales, so try to answer any new chats promptly; while being incredibly charming, obviously. Don’t forget our Buyer Seller chat rules though!
6. Price wisely
It’s all about balance. You want to get the most money for your item possible, but at the same time, you also want to ensure it sells. Check out similar items on Vestiaire before listing your piece and make a note of those that have sold and those that haven’t. You can also use our resale calculator to get a better idea of the correct price for a specific item, such as a specific size and model of a bag.
7. Use the App
