We've pioneered pre-loved fashion authentication with a bespoke service that we've been expanding and perfecting since our inception in 2009. This authentication expertise lies at the heart of our mission: to be the world's most trusted resale platform.
We have over 100 experts in quality control and digital and physical authentication internationally, with authentication hubs in the US, UK, France, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Each expert has their own speciality, from luxury brands and streetwear to watchmaking and gemology.
In addition to their specialized backgrounds, our authenticators unrivalled knowledge and expertise is supported by the luxury brands we work with. Together, they have over 60,000 hours of training to stay up-to-date on industry standards.
This is the longest accumulated research and expertise in pre-loved authentication.
At Vestiaire Collective, we go beyond traditional authentication processes to detect counterfeits. Our team leverages technical skills and expertise, machine learning-based algorithms, authentication technology and AI systems to ensure the highest level of accuracy for every verification. Since 2020, 360 million euros worth of items have been rejected by our digital authentication team**.
In addition to digital authentication, our quality control team ensures that each item corresponds to its description and condition indicated in the advertisement. Additionally, we verify customer profiles and create safe community spaces to help you buy and sell with confidence.
**Source: Vestiaire Collective Database. A total of 1.26m items were refused at the digital authentication stage between 01/01/2020 and 30/06/2022.
Each item sent to be physically authenticated goes through a rigorous methodology and process. Our authenticators check the product's origin, for any alterations, and whether the item has undergone any modifications. All details are meticulously inspected to ensure the product's authenticity, from the dust bag to the invoice, including the material, finishes, typography and stitching, serial number and engraving.
We signed the Charter for Fighting Counterfeiting on the Internet Between Rights Holders and e-Commerce Platforms in 2012.
Since 2024, we have been signatories to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the sale of counterfeit goods on the internet. This voluntary agreement, facilitated by the European Commission, the DG Grow (Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs), aims to prevent counterfeit goods from being offered on online marketplaces.
At Vestiaire Collective, we're committed to fighting counterfeits and ensuring our customers can shop with confidence. However, no authentication process can be 100% accurate and, very occasionally, a counterfeit item makes it through. If you have any doubts about the authenticity of your item, at any time after purchase, please report it to us directly by following the steps here.
We're the trusted choice for luxury brands. From Gucci and Burberry to Chloé and more, we work with some of the biggest names in fashion to promote authenticity and encourage circularity. Our Official Partners have joined us in the circular fashion movement by reselling their client’s pre-loved items with Vestiaire Collective to give them a second life. Each style is pre-authenticated and listed online by Vestiaire Collective experts, ready to be shipped.
Except for Official Partner items, Vestiaire Collective has no association and/or affiliation with the brands whose items are offered for sale on our platform. Except for Official Partner items, all authentication services are performed independently by Vestiaire Collective.
