Zara Kids: an affordable wardrobe.
Zara proposes a modern and affordable ready-to-wear collection for the whole family. The Spanish brand has successfully imposed itself the world over with its medium-range clothes for men, women and children.
Ready-to-wear within everyone's reach.
Amancio Ortega Gaona, who founded Zara, made his first foray into fashion at the beginning of the 1960's. He started out making pyjamas and dressing gowns. Zara's first ready-to-wear boutique opened in 1975, in Galicia, with a rather efficient concept: proposing clothes inspired by haute couture models at affordable prices. It wasn't until 1990 that Zara opened its first store in Paris, on Place de l'Opéra. Very rapidly, the brand's success rubbed off on Zara's ready-to-wear collections for children, which were displayed next to the womenswear department.
Today, Zara is present the world over, with more than 3,000 ready-to-wear boutiques. It owes its success in part to the sustained rhythm of its new collections, which come out every month, with no restocking. In the early party of this century, the brand diversified. It started to offer a line of perfumes and cosmetics, followed by Zara Home, devoted to interior design. Its universe of choice remains, nonetheless, clothing. Zara's collections for girls adheres to the same principle as the womenswear collection, integrating pieces with constantly updated cuts, available at reasonable prices.
Renew your wardrobe, but don't break the bank.
The Zara ready-to-wear range for girls is made up of coats, trousers, skirts, dresses and tops of all descriptions. The models stand out because of their fine finishings. The T-shirts are generally embellished with a little embroidery or a print inspired by the women's collection, like an all-over floral motif or a star print. Often, Zara gives its classic blousons and jackets an edgy touch, by innovating with the linings. Aimed at all ages, from little girls to young women, Zara's children's clothing puts fashion basics within the reach of even the youngest members of the family. We're especially thinking of the outsize wool broadcloth coats, the diaphanous blouses and silk dresses.
Zara applies the same principles to its children's collections as its collections for adults - Zara's girls' models are available for limited periods only, so that the creations are constantly being renewed. Over the seasons, a few pieces have made their mark almost to the point of becoming iconic:
