1970s Breitling Navitimer Chrono-Matic Ref. 1806 “Fried Egg” Cal. 12

The Chronomatic Consortium united Heuer, Léon Breitling, Hamilton-Büren and chronograph specialist Depraz & Co. The result was the Calibre 11, a modular construction based on a micro-rotor Buren movement and a Dépraz chronograph mechanism.

In fact, it’s one of the first automatic movements to reach the market, on par with the Seiko 6139 and the Zenith El Primero. Of course, it's also the same movement that powers the Carrera, Monaco, and the Autavia.

This watch has a massive 48 mm case made by EPSA. Crown on the left side (standard for this model) — doesn’t dig into the wrist despite the size. The lugs are also short, so it wears smaller than you’d expect.

Inside, you’ll find the Caliber 12, an improved version of the Caliber 11. It has a higher beat rate (21,600 instead of 19,800 bph), stronger components, and a gold-plated finishing. It’s currently being serviced by my watchmaker, so it’ll be better than ever.

Condition: Signs of wear on the case, some patina on the dial that adds a lot to its vintage oversized charm. All-original condition. Movement is being serviced, so it’ll be ready to go when shipped. See detailed photos for full condition and clarity.
