Men's watch from the Swiss brand Certina. In 1888, brothers Alfred and Adolf Kurth opened a workshop in the Swiss town of Grenchen to manufacture movements and components for the watch industry. In 1906, the brand adopted the name Grana, an abbreviation of "Granacus", the Latin name for the city. It wasn't until 1939 that they officially registered the name Certina (from the Latin "certus", meaning "sure, determined"), which would become the brand's unique name.
In 1959, the revolutionary Certina DS concept (for "Double Security") was presented. In its quest for a robust watch for all activities, the DS design incorporated a floating movement mounting with an elastic shock-absorbing ring, an air gap between the dial and the case, additional sealing, an extra-thick crystal, and a reinforced caseback. This legendary durability, symbolized by the tortoise shell of its logo, has allowed Certina watches to survive expeditions to the Himalayas and submarine missions by the US Navy. Today, as part of the Swatch Group, Certina remains a benchmark of Swiss watchmaking. This model belongs to the DS-1 collection, which is inspired by the design of the brand's early watches from the 1960s, combining a vintage aesthetic with the most advanced technology in modern watchmaking. Swiss made, this watch features a 39 mm 316L stainless steel case that combines polished surfaces on the top and lugs with an elegant brushed finish on the sides. The fluted crown, with an elegant gold PVD finish, is located at 3 o'clock. The entire dial is protected by a sapphire crystal. The refined silver-white dial is decorated with a distinctive "crosshair" design that evokes its classic heritage. It features applied, faceted gold-tone hour markers and central gold-tone pencil hands. The day-of-the-month window is discreetly located at 4:30 o'clock. Inside, the watch is powered by the renowned Swiss automatic mechanical movement (powered by the movement of the wrist, requiring no battery). Based on the legendary and robust ETA 2824-2, this advanced caliber achieves a formidable power reserve of up to 80 hours thanks to a new barrel architecture and a frequency optimization of 21,600 vibrations per hour. The regulating spring is made from the advanced antimagnetic alloy Nivachron™, which effectively protects it from everyday magnetic fields, ensuring high precision. It is also often laser-regulated directly from the factory to ensure its performance. This caliber, which features 25 jewels, is visible through the caseback, where its rotor personalized with the brand name can be seen. The stainless steel case back has a sapphire crystal window that allows the movement to be observed in operation. Thanks to the DS concept, the watch guarantees water resistance to 10 ATM (100 meters). The watch is completed with a two-tone stainless steel bracelet; the outer links are brushed and the center links feature a fine line with a polished gold PVD finish. The clasp is a folding clasp and features a safety flap engraved with the brand name.

En 1906 la marca adoptó el nombre de Grana, abreviación de "Granacus", el nombre en latín de la ciudad. En su interior late el célebre movimiento mecánico automático suizo (no necesita pila y se carga con el movimiento de la muñeca), el Powermatic 80 (base ETA C07.611). Basado en el legendario y robusto ETA 2824-2, este avanzado calibre alcanza una formidable reserva de marcha de hasta 80 horas gracias a una nueva arquitectura del barrilete y a la optimización de su frecuencia a 21.600 alternancias por hora. El resorte regulador está fabricado con la avanzada aleación antimagnética Nivachron™, que lo protege eficazmente de los campos magnéticos cotidianos, garantizando una alta precisión. Además, a menudo viene regulado por láser directamente de fábrica para asegurar su rendimiento. Este calibre, que cuenta con 25 rubíes, es visible a través del fondo de la caja, donde se aprecia su rotor personalizado con el nombre de la marca. La tapa trasera de acero inoxidable tiene una ventana de cristal de zafiro que permite observar el movimiento en funcionamiento.
