Rare 1950s LeJour 17 Jewels Automatic Incabloc Cream Dial Vintage Mens Watch

A characterful 1950s LeJour 17 Jewels Automatic in a polished stainless steel case, presenting a beautifully aged cream dial with applied gold Arabic numerals at the cardinals (12, 4, 6, 8, 10), applied gold dagger markers between, gold dauphine hour and minute hands and a slim red-tipped centre seconds — powered by a 17-jewel Swiss automatic with Incabloc shock protection.

LeJour was a French-marketed Swiss watch brand active from the late 1940s through the mid-twentieth century, importing well-built mid-tier Swiss watches around dependable third-party movements. The dial proudly proclaims “Unbreakable Mainspring — Automatic — Incabloc”, the trio of period buzzwords every reliable mid-century daily-wear automatic needed to claim.

The dial has aged beautifully into a soft cream patina, even and free from major flaws: applied gold Arabic numerals at twelve, four, six, eight and ten, applied gold dagger markers in between (with luminous fill, now warm yellow), slim gold dauphine hour and minute hands and a striking red-tipped centre seconds. The polished steel case shows light, honest wear consistent with age and retains crisp lines.

It is fitted to a brown crocodile-pattern leather strap with a steel buckle — a thoroughly fitting pairing for a 1950s Swiss automatic. On the wrist the proportions are pure mid-century: a modest 34mm round case, slim profile and unmistakably elegant lugs — equally at home with a shirt cuff or worn casually.

A pleasing example of mid-century LeJour with all the right design cues: applied gold mixed indices, a gilt 17-jewel Swiss automatic and a beautifully aged cream dial. A characterful and very wearable everyday vintage piece.

working well, rare piece
