Seiko Reference 7018-6000 "Time Sonar" automatic chronograph produced in the 1970s, powered by the caliber 7018.
This caliber is a flyback chronograph with a stopwatch function, distinguished by its innovative co-axial design that places the central chronograph seconds hand and the minute counter on the same axis. The movement runs well and the chronograph part with zero reset is in perfect condition. This particular example features the rarest variation of the matte black dial, where the clean layout with bar indexes is highlighted by a vibrant orange chronograph hand.
Another feature of the "Time Sonar" is the see-through case back, and being a Japan-made product, the day display can be switched between English and Japanese.
The cushion-shaped stainless steel case shows light wear due to age, but retains crisp edges and well-defined lines. The matte black dial is well preserved with crisp printing and intact indexes. The orange chronograph hand has retained its color, giving the watch a striking contrast. The rubber strap it was presented with is extremely rare. I purchased this watch over 10 years ago in original condition and kept it exclusively in a collection, rarely worn. For regular use, therefore, a service is recommended. This is a rarely seen piece and is difficult to find for sale.

Seiko Referenza 7018-6000 "Time Sonar", cronografo automatico prodotto negli anni '70, alimentato dal calibro 7018.
Questo calibro è un cronografo flyback con funzione di arresto, che si distingue per l'innovativo design coassiale che pone sullo stesso asse la lancetta centrale dei secondi cronografici e il contatore dei minuti. Movimento ben funzionante e parte cronografica con reset a 0 perfetta. Questo esemplare in particolare presenta la variante più rara del quadrante nero opaco, dove il layout pulito con indici a barra è sottolineato da una vivace lancetta cronografica arancione.
Un'altra caratteristica del "Time Sonar" è il fondello trasparente ed essendo un prodotto Japan made, l'indicazione del giorno può essere commutata tra inglese e giapponese.
La cassa a forma di cuscino in acciaio inossidabile presenta una leggera usura dovuta all'età, ma conserva bordi nitidi e linee ben definite. Il quadrante nero opaco è ben conservato con una stampa nitida e indici intatti. La lancetta arancione del cronografo ha mantenuto il suo colore, conferendo all'orologio un contrasto sorprendente. Rarissimo il cinturino in gomma con cui veniva presentato. Orologio da me acquistato oltre 10 anni fa in condizioni di originalità e tenuto solamente in collezione, raramente indossato. Per un utilizzo costante perciò si consiglia revisione. Esemplare poco visto e difficile da incontrare in vendita.
