Balmain for H&M: when affordable fashion meets luxury.
When the Balmain house of haute couture meets the ready-to-wear giant H&M, the result is a capsule collection of around one hundred pieces with haute couture finishings but at affordable prices.
A showcase collection with Balmain style.
Launched in November 2015, the Balmain for H&M collection is the fruit of the collaboration between the H&M group and the Rue Pierre Charon couture house. It's not H&M's first time - each year the Swedish clothing giant partners up with major designers. The collections designed with Versace, Alexander Wang, Stella McCartney, Sonia Rykiel, Comme des Garçons and Jimmy Choo were particularly memorable.
Today, the house of Balmain is run by Frenchman Olivier Rousteing, true social media royalty and friend to the stars, the young man from Bordeaux has succeeded in injecting some innovation and bringing fresh energy to the brand. For the launch of the Balmain for H&M collection, an all-encompassing advertising campaign was put together to promote the line's pullovers, blousons, shirts and trousers. The brand's muses like American Kendall Jenner helped get the campaign noticed.
Affordable clothes for sophisticated guys.
Balmain's clothing collection was made up of original designs but he chose to stick to the codes behind the reputation of his creations - embroidery, gold finishings and shoulder pads. The jackets, coats, blousons, trousers, pullovers and shirts in the collection allow men to put together outfits incorporating the codes of the couture house but at affordable prices. The military inspiration is also present in the Balmain for H&M range, with lots of khaki-coloured pieces.
