In 1999, Prada began working with WL Gore to develop outerwear for their Prada Sport line, which aimed to produce sportswear with materials and shapes that assimilate the characteristics of "technical mountain wear". The release of the "Prada Sport" line coincided with the creation of the Luna Rossa Sailing team, which created a need for Prada to produce pieces that could handle a variety of conditions. This jacket is the first of its kind at Prada and was the inspiration for several other jackets the fashion house produced over the following years (notably the Luna Rossa Challenge jackets), some of which can be found on this page! This particular jacket is the 2002 edition, constructed from a high quality Gore-Tex material that was developed especially for Prada, with taped seams. This material is smoother and more durable than Gore-Tex jackets made by Prada in previous years. There are 4 pockets in total, 2 standard hand pockets on the outside and 2 large Velcro sealed storage pockets on the inside. The lightweight hood is designed to drop easily for quick access for the wearer. There are also adjustable neoprene cuffs for added comfort and weather resistance. The large red Prada label on the chest and back completes one of the best and most iconic jackets Prada has ever produced.
