Y/Project stands as one of contemporary fashion's most intriguing success stories, with roots far deeper than many realize. The brand was originally founded as 'Y. Project' by the visionary designer Yohan Serfaty, who established it as an evolution of his eponymous luxury label known for its dark, avant-garde aesthetics and exceptional craftsmanship.
Following Serfaty's untimely passing in 2013, the creative direction was passed to Glenn Martens, his former assistant. Under Martens' leadership (and a subtle rebranding to Y/Project), the label has achieved remarkable international acclaim, though taking the brand in a distinctly different creative direction. Few are aware of the brand's original distinctive DNA that Serfaty masterfully crafted in its formative years.
This exceptional cotton jacket, featuring a highly distinctive treatment, is a rare artifact from Y. Project's seminal Spring-Summer 2012 collection "Ad Vitam". A perfect embodiment of Yohan Serfaty's original vision and design philosophy, this piece exemplifies his masterful approach to fabric manipulation and avant-garde aesthetics. Finding such a piece from Y. Project's early era is practically impossible today, making this perfectly preserved jacket an extraordinary testament to the brand's foundational period.
