LEVI'S 501XX YEAR 1966 SPECIAL EDITION In 1937, Levi's began covering the rivets on the back pockets in an attempt to satisfy those who complained about the marks the rivets left on furniture. But those copper rivets were harder than they looked, and with years of use, they managed to crack denim and still damage furniture. Fortunately for sofas everywhere, in 1966 technology solved the problem and the back pocket rivets were replaced by tacks. This small modification allowed the famous durability of jeans to be preserved but solved the age-old problem of scratches on furniture. This particular style of 501® jeans with the tacks and the Red Tab with a capital E was only produced from 1966 to 1971. Cone Mills Red Selvedge 12 oz denim (14 oz after wash). Two back pockets with bar tacks instead of rivets. “Due Cavalli” imitation leather patch. Double curved needle. Large double-sided red “E” label. 100% cotton. Made in the USA measurements: waist 89cm, inseam length 77cm

LEVI'S 501XX ANNO 1966 SPECIAL EDITION

Nel 1937, Levi's iniziò a coprire i rivetti delle tasche posteriori nel tentativo di soddisfare chi si lamentava per i segni che i rivetti lasciavano sui mobili. Ma quei rivetti in rame erano più duri di quanto sembrassero e, con anni di uso, riuscivano a rompere il denim e continuavano a danneggiare i mobili. Fortunatamente per i divani di tutto il mondo, nel 1966 la tecnologia risolse il problema e i rivetti della tasca posteriore furono sostituiti dalle travette. Questa piccola modifica permise di preservare la famosa durevolezza dei jeans ma risolse l’annoso problema dei raschi sui mobili. Questo particolare modello di jeans 501® con le travette e la Red Tab con la E maiuscola si produsse solo dal 1966 al 1971.
