A look back over the story of an exceptional French House.
Originally from Beauvais, Hubert de Givenchy founded his eponymous brand in 1952. Influenced by his grandparents whom he admired for their style and the passion they shared for fabrics, it was only natural for him to turn to the world of haute couture fashion at a very early age. After working at leading fashion houses including Elsa Schiaparelli, the designer launched his own brand and opened his first Parisian store. His clothing and accessories at the time were characterised by a blend of influences in terms of the cuts and fabrics, somewhere between pure tradition on the one hand and modernity on the other. Cristobal Balenciaga, another acclaimed name in fashion design, would play a major role as mentor to the brand Givenchy and its founding designer. Designs by the French label are aimed at women as well as men, and offer modern lines of sweaters, cardigans and sweatshirts.
Collections of stylish men's pullovers and cardigans.
At the heart of Givenchy's menswear collections, lies a fusion of style and originality, tradition and modernity. The men's sweaters and cardigans are either plain in dark colourways (black and grey) or in versions which come adorned in brighter colours like red. The label's logo and prints serve to assert Givenchy's new style and appeal mainly to the younger generations although they have retained the traditional codes associated with the House. The brand seeks out the most expensive, and therefore highest quality, cotton and wool before it crafts each exquisitely-designed piece.
