Versace, Italian-style luxury.
The Italian brand Versace dates back to 1978. It all began with Gianni Versace, an Italian designer. His family was very familiar with fashion since his mother ran a dressmaking business. After working in Milan as a designer for different fashion houses, he decided to stand on his own two feet and persuaded his brother Santo and sister Donatella to join him in the venture. The label stood out from its rivals right from the outset by offering fashion which was high in colour, flamboyant and sulphurous. The designer focussed on clothing and also offered perfumes, jewels, bags and glasses. Versace reached its peak in the 1980s and 1990s. Celebrities like Kim Basinger and Elton John could be seen wearing clothes by the Italian label. Unfortunately, the brand's success took a huge blow in 1997 when the legendary designer died after being the victim of a shooting. His sister Donatella took over at the helm of the company.
A brand unlike any other.
One thing is certain, the style of Versace accessories is anything but commonplace. Items include statement belts, scarves and glasses, ideal if you want to stand out and assert an exuberant and glamourous style. Some see it as bad taste, whilst others admire the pure genius of it all. The brand revels in toying with the codes and enjoys blending different colours and textures to add an element of surprise. As for inspirations, we find a legacy of Baroque, pop art and Italian style influences.
Versace endures in the world of high-end fashion.
