Sophisticated and rare true vintage original Mid-Century women's hat, signed by the famous American millinery brand "Betty Jane Original", very active between the late 1940s and the 1960s, famous for the production of structured day hats, cocktail hats, and Easter models that were distinguished by the extensive use of three-dimensional floral decorations and high-quality woven fabrics. A very chic piece of Old Hollywood style fashion history, beautifully preserved, ideal for collectors of vintage clothing, themed, historical, elegant events, ceremonies, or to give a unique and refined touch to a retro look, perfect for completing Pin-up, Rockabilly, Look style outfits.
This is a medium-brimmed hat made of fine black straw finely woven in shiny and dense concentric circles (perhaps synthetic or cellophane straw, very common in the post-war period), decorated symmetrically on the sides of the brim with two nude/beige floral applications, enriched with small pearly pistils in the center and embellished with small light points; the base of the crown is adorned with a black velvet strip ending in a pretty bow at the back, the inside is clean and finished with a black grosgrain ribbon.
The original label shows the size of the era, expressed in inches: 22 ½, which corresponds to a head circumference of about 57 cm.
