I am offering here a genuine antique hat, dating from between 1910 and 1920, a pivotal period between the Belle Époque and the first women's cloche hats.

This is an early cloche hat, entirely handcrafted by a milliner from a dense, heavy, non-industrial antique felt.

This hat is exceptional in its construction and the details that allow for precise dating:

✔️ 1. The felt trim (not ribbon)
The trim is made directly from the felt, an old millinery technique, entirely handmade.

This type of trim gradually disappeared after the 1940s, replaced by industrial ribbons.

✔️ 2. The sculpted felt bow
The bow isn't made of fabric: it's sculpted from the felt itself, a technique typical of the 1910s and 20s.
Ribbon bows only appeared from the 1930s onward.

✔️ 3. Steam-shaped undulations
The sides of the hat feature regular undulations, reliefs, hollows, and bumps, almost like a frozen drape.

Je vous propose ici un authentique chapeau ancien, datant des années 1910-1920, période charnière entre la Belle Époque et l'apparition des premiers chapeaux cloche féminins.

Il s'agit d'un chapeau cloche ancien, entièrement confectionné à la main par une modiste dans un feutre ancien dense, lourd et non industriel.

Ce chapeau est exceptionnel par sa fabrication et les détails qui permettent une datation précise :

✔️ 1. La bordure en feutre (et non en ruban)

La bordure est réalisée directement dans le feutre, selon une ancienne technique de chapellerie, entièrement à la main.

Ce type de bordure a progressivement disparu après les années 1940, remplacé par des rubans industriels.

✔️ 2. Le nœud en feutre sculpté

Le nœud n'est pas en tissu : il est sculpté dans le feutre lui-même, une technique typique des années 1910 et 1920.

Les nœuds en ruban n'apparaissent qu'à partir des années 1930.

✔️ 3. Ondulations à la vapeur

Les côtés du chapeau présentent des ondulations régulières, des reliefs, des creux et des bosses, évoquant un drapé figé.
