A bold, graphic homage to Hermès’ equestrian roots, the composition spells “HERMES” using bridles, reins, bits, stirrups and a saddle rendered as letterforms. The house’s copy describes how the saddler’s signature elements become stylised letters—particularly the Hs and Es—bringing tack-work geometry into a crisp typographic tableau. Unlike named-artist carrés, Lettres équestres is credited to Studio Hermès (Studio Dessins), the in-house creative team that refines outside and internal drawings into finished objects. Under director Cosima Balsan, Studio Dessins oversees the translation of artwork into silk through engraving and colour separation—an atelier process that preserves hand-drawn character while achieving precise, screen-printed detail. This studio authors and curates select motifs each season, particularly house-heritage themes like equestrian equipment and typographic play.
