Rare Comme des Garçons jacket designed by Rei Kawakubo and made in Japan, from the 1990s production.
The garment effectively represents the creative language that has made Rei Kawakubo one of the most influential and innovative figures in contemporary fashion. Through a conceptual reinterpretation of traditional tailoring, the Japanese designer transforms a seemingly classic jacket into a sculptural and experimental object.
Made of pure black wool with a cupro lining, it features a large three-dimensional corolla-shaped collar, constructed by combining the main fabric and the lining, which is intentionally left visible. The result is a significant floral volume that frames the face and becomes the expressive focal point of the garment.
The construction is deliberately unconventional: the jacket does not open completely at the front and is worn by pulling it over the head, a feature that highlights the radical and non-conformist approach typical of Rei Kawakubo's creations.
The back is essential and clean, while all the formal research is concentrated on the front, in the dialogue between structure, volume, and movement.

Rara giacca Comme des Garçons disegnata da Rei Kawakubo e realizzata in Giappone, attribuibile alla produzione degli anni Novanta.
Il capo rappresenta efficacemente il linguaggio creativo che ha reso Rei Kawakubo una delle figure più influenti e innovative della moda contemporanea. Attraverso una rilettura concettuale della sartoria tradizionale, la stilista giapponese trasforma una giacca apparentemente classica in un oggetto scultoreo e sperimentale.
Realizzata in pura lana nera con fodera in cupro, presenta un ampio collo tridimensionale a forma di corolla, costruito mediante l'accostamento del tessuto principale e della fodera lasciata volutamente a vista. Il risultato è un importante volume floreale che incornicia il viso e diventa il fulcro espressivo del capo.
La costruzione è volutamente non convenzionale: la giacca non si apre completamente sul davanti e viene indossata infilando il capo dalla testa, caratteristica che evidenzia l'approccio radicale e anticonformista tipico delle creazioni di Rei Kawakubo.
Il retro è essenziale e pulito, mentre tutta la ricerca formale si concentra sul davanti, nel dialogo tra struttura, volume e movimento.
