A prestigious brand of French jewellery.
The French label Chaumet came into being in 1780 under Marie-Étienne Nitot. Specialising in luxury watches and jewellery, the brand Chaumet boasts a prestigious reputation and really needs no further introduction. Initially, the company was supplier to extremely well-to-do customers, including Napoleon and the Empresses Josephine and Marie-Louise. After the death of the founder in 1809, the house was taken over by François Regnault Nitot, his son. Chaumet would assume its definitive name in 1885, under Joseph Chaumet. At the beginning of the 20th century, the label opened a boutique on the eminently prestigious Place Vendôme in Paris. Unfortunately, in 1987, Chaumet went into receivership, partly due to the plummeting value of diamonds. The Investcorp group took control of Chaumet and in 1999, it became part of the luxury group LVMH. Whatever passed before, Chaumet is now a truly international label with luxury stores located in the four corners of the globe.
