Dounia Wone is the Chief Impact Officer at Vestiaire Collective. Here, she talks Chanel slingbacks, Paris street-style, and the moment she realised that circular fashion is the only way to go.
...Everyone, everywhere, all the time! We’re spoiled in Paris, it’s a fashion playground. Every arrondissement has its own personality and style, so there’s inspiration waiting around every corner. On the Vestiaire app, the WeLove edit is curated by our style team, so that’s where I go for my daily fashion fix. It’s packed with amazing finds.
....Veja sneakers, a Celine t-shirt, and a pair of incredible leather trousers handed down to me from my grandma. When I want to dress up, it’s my vintage Chanel slingbacks every time. What I’m really looking for right now? Sequins! I have alerts set up on my Vestiaire app for a sequinned blazer or dress - everyone needs a little sparkle in their closet.
…I really understood that when you buy a new t-shirt for 2,99 € it means two things: One, that t-shirt is going to be very low quality. Two, someone in the supply chain has been exploited to make it. Once you understand how fashion truly impacts communities and the planet, you know how vital circular fashion is for our future. That’s why I find Vestiaire so inspiring. It’s why I joined the company.
Sézane, Chloé, Ganni, Veja...there are so many, but these are all B Corp certified brands that I particularly love. B Corp is the most demanding Sustainability & Inclusion certification there is, so it’s a real statement of intent. Becoming a B Corp was always in Vestiaire’s DNA and we were so proud to achieve it - we want to keep proving that business can be a real force for good!
