Classic Western Suede Fringe Jacket

This original early 1970s McGregor Men’s Classic Western Suede Fringe Jacket. Crafted in brown suede, it features fringe across the chest, sleeves, and hem, a notched lapel, and button closure. Tagged size 40, it measures 48cm /19”, shoulder width 56cm / 22”, chest width 66cm / 26”, sleeve length, and 66cm / 26” body length (79cm / 31” with fringe). The jacket features two exterior hip pockets and a watch pocket with flap closure, the signature McGregor label is inside.

Founded in 1921 by David D. Doniger, McGregor established itself as a leader in men’s sportswear by the 1950s, capitalising on the growing demand for casual clothing. A defining moment came in 1949 with the introduction of the Scottish Drizzler, the first waterproof sports jacket—an innovation that became synonymous with the brand. Its cultural impact surged in 1955 when James Dean wore a red Drizzler in Rebel Without A Cause, cementing McGregor’s status as a pioneer of effortless, iconic style. This original McGregor suede fringe jacket continues the McGregor legacy, blending timeless design with standout detailing.
