Fendi: a century of history.
For the House of Fendi, it all began when a Roman couple opened a small leather goods and fur workshop in the heart of Rome. After World War II, the adventure took a new turn. The five daughters of the Fendi couple took over and modernized the brand. They made a decision that would be crowned with success: they hired Karl Lagerfeld, who was then a young designer. Success was imminent and Fendi became a leading luxury brand around the world.
Back to the invention of the Baguette bag.
Karl Lagerfeld revolutionized the world of fashion with his ready-to-wear collections at Fendi, including a bold use of fur. But the history of Fendi is also marked by the invention of the Baguette bag. This model was created in 1997 by Silvia Fendi, the granddaughter of the founders. It is named for its practical mini format, to be carried under the arm, like a breadstick. Available in more than a thousand different versions, some of which are produced in very limited editions, the Baguette bag has triggered an unprecedented craze.
The most sought-after pieces available on Vestiaire Collective.
Today, the Baguette bag is still featured in Fendi collections. It was recently revisited, with a shoulder strap, to adapt to the desires of modern women. But some will prefer the original model. On Vestiaire Collective, we gather mythical and vintage pieces of the Fendi brand.
If the Baguette model has left its mark forever, we should not however put aside the other legendary bags of the Roman house. The following vintage bags are a must for Fendi fans:
- The Spy line;
- The Roll Bag;
- The FF Fendi.
