Women's accessories: the innately British Burberry scarf.
Its legendary tartan instantly recognisable, Burberry has been the embodiment of British refinement for over one and a half centuries now. If its reputation was built on its collection of trench coats made of innovating fabrics, the label also designs iconic scarves for women. In silk, cashmere or wool, all proudly wear the now legendary Scottish check.
A soft spot for scarves.
The story of English house of fashion Burberry began in 1856, when Thomas Burberry, then a draper, opened his first boutique in Basingstoke. Very quickly, he started to specialise in rainwear and made various lines of gabardine trench coats. The famous white, black and camel-coloured Scottish tartan, christened the Nova Check, appeared in the fashion house's collections for the first time in 1924. Shortly afterwards, Burberry started to develop different ranges of accessories, including scarves. The Heritage scarf, bearing the camel-toned Scottish tartan, needs no introduction. Made in Scotland and available in 32 nuances of check, its softness is unparalleled, thanks to the meticulous work that goes into its cashmere.
Apart from the classic model, different versions of the Heritage scarf are available: solid colours, enhanced with hearts or lace, sewn with metallic thread, XL formats... Silk is another luxury material widely used in Burberry's scarf collections. The check is still present, combined with motifs, stripes or prints, inspired by the works of sculptor Henry Moore, for example. The scarves come in various forms, to suit every type of outfit. The narrow scarf, for example, is perfect for wearing with a white shirt, the square scarf adds a touch of sophistication to a more casual outfit and the long scarf finishes off a jacket or a trench coat.
A scarf for all seasons.
Burberry offers a wide range of scarves. Scarves, stoles, neckwarmers and lightweight scarves, all the brand's creations are cut from luxury materials. The use of lightweight silk and cashmere mean that Burberry's scarves can be worn just as easily in spring as in winter. To face up to the harshest of temperatures, the English house of fashion offers pieces made out of wool or fur. The checked lining on these models, reminds us of the brand's signature.
True emblems, Burberry scarves can now be customised - it's possible to add up to three initials on the different models, to appropriate the British chic so characteristic of the brand. Although the favourite piece of the house remains the trench coat lined in Nova Check, several Burberry scarves have become must-haves. Among the brand's bestsellers, we can name:
