Watch-making tradition dating back to 1830.
The very name of Baume & Mercier conjures up two centuries of history and expertise. It all began in 1830 with the opening of a watch dealership in the Jura region of Switzerland. Success came quickly to the two Baume brothers thanks to their exceptional watches on the cutting edge of the latest technology. Before long, their success had taken on an international dimension and the company won numerous prizes and medals at major fairs and exhibitions. Almost a century later, the head of the company decided to go into partnership with Paul Mercier and that is how, in 1918, the prestigious label Baume & Mercier came into existence.
The roaring twenties, the advent of watches for women.
Between 1920 and 1930, the House of Baume & Mercier took a closer interest in a customer-base with enormous potential - women. Combining innovation with creativity, the prestigious brand then designed fine watches which were an alliance of sophistication and technical performance. At the end of the 1940s, a legendary design was born: the Marquise. That precious watch has now become a highly-coveted object.
Watches to fulfil the hopes and dreams of women everywhere.
The brand of watches Baume & Mercier carved out a place for itself in the world of luxury watch-making by developing mid-range products, but to reach an ever-greater customer-base, the Swiss company decided to expand its collections by adding more affordable watches.
