Alexander McQueen was not known in the world of fashion for his discretion, quite the opposite in fact. When he started out in 1992, the controversial style of his collection caused quite a stir. The following year, he received the prestigious "British Designer of the Year" award, the first of many over his career. But his success did not stop there: the House of Alexander McQueen became a part of the Kering group in 2001, joining those other famous brands Gucci, Saint Laurent and Balenciaga. Alexander McQueen used his innovating and audacious collections to express his limitless creativity.

Boosted by his success, in 2005 Alexander McQueen designed his very first line of bags and shoes. In 2007, he collaborated with Samsonite to launch a capsule collection of luxury travel bags. Amongst the famous bags created by the designer, we have to mention the Heroine, a rigid leather bag carried by the handles. It first came out in 2012 and was revisited several times. His shimmering gold python-skin version was a real showstopper. The Novak bag which came out in 2005 has also attained cult status. Inspired by the star of Hitchcock's film, Vertigo, it would even be reissued on the occasion of a special collaboration with the jewellery house Boucheron in 2006.
