Moncler, a luxury label specialising in padded coats.
Moncler, a French-Italian brand founded in 1952 near Grenoble. The two founders, René Ramillon and André Vincent, originally started out in the market dedicated to camping, but two years later they had a revelation and switched to padded jackets. Their jackets were initially adopted by adepts of Alpine sports because they revealed themselves to be both weatherproof and very lightweight, making them more comfortable for skiing. The label Moncler would even go so far as kitting out the French team at the 1968 Olympic Games. In 2003, the brand was taken over by an Italian Remo Ruffini, who was confident of the value of the label's sporty, urban look. After running out of steam at the end of the last century, the brand made a strong comeback in 2007 with exclusive, high-quality designs to appeal to women.
High-quality padded Coats at the cutting edge of fashion.
Even if it has become Italian along the way, the brand Moncler still retains certain traces of its French history. Firstly, symbols in the form of a cockerel and a trim in the colours of the French flag still feature on the clothes. Also, the high-quality padding is still added to the jackets, as it always has been, near Grenoble, using artisanal techniques. The clothes are finished off, however, near Venice in Italy. Moncler women's coats see themselves as modern and timeless to speak to everyone, regardless of generation. Women everywhere are adopting this piece, whatever their style happens to be. The cuts are appealing, as are the colourways, the refined materials used and the very high-quality finish. The brand has succeeded in turning padded jackets into a city-dweller's fashion item rather than just a garment reserved for extreme sports.
