Continuing the themes of Spring 2002, where themes of deconstruction and reconstruction are now experimented with in gothic tones
The collection featured various reconstructed pieces made of many fabrics, including velvet and wool, on cropped jackets and slip dresses.
This jacket in particular seems representative of his Fall 2003 collection, where Watanabe fully explores his vision, playing with the House's codes such as destroyed tweed jackets. This jacket fits Junya's more avant-garde tailoring, with giant notched lapels and simple darts around the bust. Most importantly, the fabric is a traditional tweed weave with wool, interwoven with polyester stripes similar to those of glittery stripes of tweed fabrics, but the use of dull stripes seems to indicate a rebel to the more glamorous version while adhering to its inspiration which remains quite faithful to Junya's punk character.
