At the tender age of 21, Yves Saint Laurent was already at the head of an empire: holding the reins of the great House of Dior. From that point onwards, he enthusiastically adapted masculine classics and incorporated them into women’s fashion. His first collections were also based on that philosophy. Tuxedos, pea jackets and trouser suits were given pride of place and became the designer’s flagship creations.
