The international brand Gucci made its first foray into fashion in 1921. For almost a century now, the label has been broadening its offering of products and updating its ranges to suit customers' changing needs and desires. Initially specialising in the world of luxury horse riding, the designer Guccio Gucci would go on to produce footwear and leather goods in the period between the two world wars. The brand relies heavily on certain codes, but also takes current trends into consideration and manages to reach a wider "audience", and appeal to newer generations. Alessandro Michele has been the artistic director of the brand since 2015. He would play a role in modernising and renewing the image of the label by designing modern trainers for both men and women.
