New Balance shoes for women: high-tech trainers with style.
A designer of high-tech equipment, New Balance is fourth in the worldwide ranking of sports shoe brands. When trainers arrived in the world of fashion in a big way, it prompted this American brand to develop a line of trainers for women designed for city girls to wear around town.
From sports shoes to urban sneakers.
Founded in Boston in 1906 by an English immigrant, the House of New Balance was initially dedicated to the production of arch support insoles. Now specialising in running shoes, it is the only sports shoe brand to have maintained its production workshops in Europe and in the United States. The label's motto is "Born to Move" and its aim is to supply high-performance trainers not only to athletes and sporting amateurs, but also to anyone who has decided they would like to lead a more active life. To meet the demands of a range of different individuals, New Balance marries comfort and practicality with designer style, and that is especially true of its women's trainers.
Today under the stewardship of James S. Davis, who became the CEO in 2011, one of the brand's main selling points is the quality of its products and it has opted not to pay athletes to wear its sports shoes. The label also undertakes to provide designs adapted to feet of all descriptions and each size of trainer is available in different widths. New Balance is well-established in the world of football today, and became the official equipment supplier of several European clubs in the 2016-2017 season, including Lille in France and Seville in Spain. By proposing women's trainers with the allure of running shoes, which were quickly adopted as city wear, the American brand carved out a choice position for itself in the world of fashion. The It-girl and designer Alexa Chung is happy to pair them up with very urban outfits.
A unique signature that comes in an infinite number of versions.
New Balance trainers have a signature design all their own: a unique cut with only the shape of the inlays varying from style to style. Most women's shoes proposed are made of suede leather and canvas, but we do find a few designs made entirely of plain canvas or flecked canvas, as well as New Balance trainers with all-leather uppers. Finally, the marriage of leather and canvas bearing original prints guarantees that certain styles are particularly eye-catching. With inlays in gingham, stripes, python or zebra-effects, New Balance sports shoes adopt resolutely urban looks.
What characterises New Balance women's trainers more than anything is the wide choice of colours available. The brand also plays on combinations of materials to come up with designs that quickly acquire the status of collector's items, either in mono colour, two-tone or print versions. Each zone of a shoe is liable to vary, down to the "N" featuring on the sides. At times discreet, more often than not the letter takes on a contrasting colour and is deftly highlighted. Among the numerous different versions of New Balance trainers, there is no question that the following three designs have become must-haves:
