Time-honoured brand specialising in watchmaking and jewels.
The French brand Chaumet has been specialising in the creation of luxury jewellery and timepieces ever since 1780. At the time, the jeweller Marie-Étienne Nitot was at the commands. Originally, her clientele was made up of members of the aristocracy. The label counted Napoleon 1st among its privileged customers. Thirty-five years after it was founded, the brand was sold to Jean-Baptiste Fossin. After the French Revolution, Chaumet opened up to foreign markets, its first port of call the City of London. In 1885 Joseph Chaumet changed the name of the label to the one with which we are familiar today. He retained the brand's initial codes, adding a Japanese style into the mix. For a century, the company was run by the family before going into receivership in 1987. The brand Chaumet was then initially taken over by the Investcorp group and subsequently by the LVMH group in 1999. Despite all the changes and upheavals it has undergone, it is currently one of the best-recognised brands in the world in terms of high jewellery and luxury watches.
A precious range of refined timepieces.
Superior quality watches take pride of place in men's accessories designed by Chaumet. The pieces are veritable jewels crafted using an array of precious stones and materials. One of the main aims of the House is to create uniquely refined pieces. The model christened La Belle Époque is a perfect example of this, for its ceramic dial is set with diamonds. The Second Empire is made in gold, silver and precious stones, including diamonds and rubies. With each men's watch it creates, the label illustrates the extent of its know-how, passed down from one generation to the next. Each piece is also a visual reminder of Parisian good taste and the attendant sense of excellence.
