Founded in London in 1996, Preen is a relatively new British brand but nonetheless has been profoundly successful amongst the fashion elite. The design duo behind the brand regularly push conceptual boundaries, stitching mens’ shirt collars together to form a dress, or attaching pom-poms to the shoulders of a mini.Focusing on masculine vs. feminine dynamics and cool, Victorian- inspired designs in its early years; the brand now focuses on more minimalistic designs, with references to its past collections. With structured and cocoon-like jackets and coats, as well as asymmetric dresses, the overall look of the brand is more sculptural; however romantic references such as ruffles and ruching still remain. With signature items such as the Power dress, the Bridget Dress and the Plaza mini, seen on celebrities such as Kate Moss and Diane Kruger, it is clear that Preen is going from strength to strength; showcasing the best of British talent.
