The début of a true legend.
The famous monogram canvas is a well-recognised symbol of luxury across the globe and that can be traced back to the drive and determination of one very ambitious young man. Louis Vuitton was only 16 years old when he upped sticks, left his native region behind and walked to Paris. He had decided to become a trunk maker. He never lost sight of his dream and after 17 years’ training to a very high standard in a leading atelier, he opened his very first store, which is still in operation today, near Place Vendôme in Paris. Since then, Louis Vuitton has designed myriad legendary bags.
An iconic design over thirty years old.
The Saumur bag was created by the House of Louis Vuitton in 1986. It has a specific design feature: it is one of the only bags which pays tribute to a regional town in France, the other being the Deauville bag. This crossbody bag represented a practical yet roomy format in the late 1980s when it came out. Modern for its time, it is now a deliciously vintage product, with numerous details in beautiful leather. The Saumur line is made in Louis Vuitton’s famous canvas, adorned with the LV Monogram.
