The story of Bonpoint started in 1975, when Marie-France Cohen, along with her husband, decided to launch a luxury ready-to-wear brand for children. Inspired by her own family, she put in a lot of hard work on materials and finishes, in order to propose good-quality designs. The Bohemian, bourgeois style of creations designed by the house, which are sewn by hand, quickly became a reference in the world of children's fashion. After endearing itself to parents through its childrenswear collections, the brand decided to bring out a line of clothing for women, christened Yam. Dedicated above all to young women who have had it with finding their clothes in the children's department (thus explaining the name, which comes from the expression "Y'en A Marre", meaning "fed up" in French), the range was also adopted by mums.
With Yam, Bonpoint proposes a look that is sensible yet mischievous at the same time, for anyone who wants to achieve the nonchalant elegance so typical of young people. In sizes ranging from XS to L, the different designs for women echo the materials and cuts of the pieces for children, in slightly more daring styles. Although the collection does feature pleated skirts and floral shirts, the Bonpoint line for adults also comprises tight-fitting jeans and mini-skirts. The famous floral peasant dress, a must-have from the collections of young girl's clothing, has now made its mark on the range of clothing for women. The dresses retain their Bohemian feel and ethereal cuts, but have been adapted to suit adults with different colours and embroidery.
