The brand Jaeger-LeCoultre was founded in Switzerland. The brand came into existence at the instigation of Antoine LeCoultre in 1833. He started out training as a metalworker with his father before specialising in the creation of watchmaking tools and mechanisms. The Swiss label would greatly contribute to the redefinition of the watchmaking industry's codes at the time under the impact of major innovations. The founder's sons and grandsons would take over at the helm, each playing a role in the development of the avant garde make. The company then developed the first automatic, winder-less watch. The designs gradually became finer, more accurate and better-designed. At the final count, over 200 patents and 1,000 different movements were developed by the brand over the course of its history. The company went by the name of LeCoultre&Cie until 1903. It was only when Edmond Jaeger joined the adventure that the name of the label changed to the version we know today. Over the decades, the house has managed to renew itself and innovate with famous designs of watches such as the Reverso.
